ARIADNE is thrilled to announce a double first! Over 32,000 records from the Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi (CVMA) Digital Archive have just been added to the ARIADNE Catalogue along with the implementation of an embedded IIIF viewer. This enables the thumbnail images to be displayed at greater resolution when the link to an image is clicked under the (new) Iiif option to be found above the Images section.

CVMA stained glass (V&A London)

The CVMA was founded in 1949 as an international initiative to record medieval stained glass. The Archaeology Data Service hosts the English database – you can find out more on the ADS website and the CVMA website.

The CVMA collection contains many fine examples of stained glass which are mostly found in churches and chapels across England (and a few from Wales). It also contains a selection of out-of-print and unpublished documents.

The IIIF viewer has been added to the Catalogue functionality as part of the ATRIUM project which will expand the range of content type that make up archaeological resources such as images, texts, 3D and sound recordings.

The CVMA collection can be viewed by typing “CVMA” into the text search box – or by selecting “Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi” from the Contributors filter.
